Lovely! Everything & anything Caprese is simple yet tasty to me, but the addition of avacado into this salad elevates it to an even higher level. I too, prefer to make my own pesto, since I find the jarred pesto contains way too much oil & sodium. In all honesty, I could live on your wonderful salads alone....nothing else would be required (seriously).

The avocado would probably turn brown. You could make the pasta salad then add the avocado the next day.
