You could sear on the stove a few minutes in each side to brown it then transfer to a baking dish to bake.

Question: I see a clove of garlic in the recipe, but there is no mention of when to add this. Looking at the pictures I see white flakes in the pan when you are stirring the sauce & I am assuming it is added then.
This looks like a good recipe & will try it over the holidays.
