This recipe was really disappointing. Absolutely gross, tasted nothing like fried rice. I hate wasting food, but I threw this whole thing out.

I cooked the chicken breast like you suggested but I added canned mushrooms and onion in place of green onion. I used steam in a bag chinese vegetables. I used rice in a cup which was brown and white rice.
Both of those were cooked in the microwave. When the chicken was done I added the cooked rice, scrambled the egg and added the vegetables and soy sauce to taste. I guess it came out more like stir fry, but these were the ingredients that i had on hand and it came out great.

Loved it. Some hot sauce and soya sauce on the side so my wife did not need them worked great.

Excellent with a few additions- fresh grated ginger in with the garlic and hoisin with the soy sauce.

Restaurant quality! Delicious and so easy.

We did this in a big electric skillet, to get a good sear on the rice. I didn’t really measure the soy, I just dumped and tasted as we went. Did about 3x the garlic, cause that’s how we roll. Made some homemade spicy ginger yum yum sauce. It was so good! Try it! Just modify to your tastes!

Some people just can't cook rice very well or consistently, brown rice seems to be even more of a challenge for many. I'd suggest just buying a pint or quart of plain cooked rice from a Chinese restaurant and adding it to this recipe. I usually cook my own rice, but when I buy Chinese take-out, I always pickup an extra quart of plain rice for recipes like this because it's a time saver and keeps in the refrigerator for several days at least to use. My wife doesn't like our local restaurant's shrimp fried rice due to the 'canned' shrimp and lack of egg. I told her to just buy a quart of their plain fried rice and add her own shrimp and egg which she does now - great timesaver, cheaper and she gets what she wants - just saying.
