Made this exactly to the recipe and it came out perfectly tender. Used Chuck Roast cut in 1.5" long strips as directed, and if I had cooked it longer it would have fallen apart. It was the perfect texture and tenderness, and the sauce is amazing. Thank you!

It was good but had to extend the time with the slow cooker, i adjusted the time to 5 1/2 hours on slow so the MEAT can be tender. Put the broccoli in within the five hour mark and you will have a tasty beef broccoli. Ignore the 3 1/2 hours because if you are using beef chuck roast, you would need the extended time then the one on the recipe is given.

Love this recipe. It’s a family favor and an easy during the week dish. I like to prepare it the night before and let the meat soak up the juice.

Could you do this in the instant pot?

Absolutely perfect. All I had on hand was a sirloin roast sliced it into a half thickness (it was a thick roast) then sliced into thin strips like the recipe said and it turned out beautifully. I paired with your sesame noodles recipe and steamed broccoli. Thank you for a quick and easy meal.

I threw this together today at lunch and let it cook all afternoon. We really enjoyed it! I was worried the soy sauce (kikkoman) would be overpowering but the sauce ended up being more like a flavourful beef gravy. I used stewing beef sliced up so everything was perfectly bite-sized so I was also worried the beef might be tough since stewing beef isn’t the nicest cut of beef. Again, pleasantly surprised that it turned out deliciously tender. The only thing I would change next time is to add some chilies or grated ginger, something to give it a bit of a kick.

yum just real salty if you don't do low salt broth

This is definitely a keeper but I will cut back the brown sugar a bit next time. I agree a little sugar is a must but it was too much for my liking. Otherwise a very super delicious dish!
