Melon Pineapple Fruit Salad with beautiful colors and refreshing flavors is sweet, cool, and a gorgeous centerpiece. It’s so easy to throw together and the perfect side at any cook-out or summer party.
I know this Melon and Pineapple Fruit Salad with Honey, Lime, and Mint Dressing is pretty much skipping a season but I couldn’t resist. When you get pineapple for .99 cents it only makes sense to spend $10 more and make a fruit salad. This is the perfect summer fruit salad and if you can find good melons right now it also makes the perfect spring fruit salad. All of the fruit I got was actually really sweet and delicious.
Melon Pineapple Fruit Salad Ingredients
You can do pretty much anything with a fruit salad and it will be delicious. This fruit salad recipe was built around a deal on pineapple and what I could get in the grocery store at the time.
I need a little help picking out melons, they can be tricky. I was hoping it would be a little more green but I’m sure I’ll be making it again sometime and maybe next time I’ll get luckier. Does anyone know the trick to getting a greener honeydew? Maybe they need to be a little more ripe than mine was too, riper fruit can tend to be a deeper shade in color.
If I were to make this in the summer, I’d lean into the seasonal berries! Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are all juicy and delicious—just make sure they’re not too mushy! Adding some kiwi for a pop of green, and the purple-red grapes for more color would also be tasty. Bananas, mango, and mandarin oranges are also family favorites for us when it comes to fresh fruit salad.
The Best Fruit Salad Dressing
Fruit is delicious on its own, but taking a few minutes to make this tangy dressing is worth it. It’s simple and there isn’t a lot to it but you’ll love the bright fresh flavors here! The honey-lime dressing compliments the fruit perfectly and I love that it’s a light dressing that doesn’t hide the delicious flavors of the fruit. It’s lime juice, a little lime zest if you can, honey, and mint. But you could mix it up by using some lemon juice, agave nectar, vanilla extract, or maple syrup for sweetness, or orange juice for even more fruity tastes.
The key is to add the dressing just before serving because melons start to break down quickly – especially the watermelon. Also drain any excess juice after chopping up the melons, especially if you’ve let them sit in the fridge for a while after cutting. I recommend eating this melon salad right away, as the fruits will grow mushy, but patting dry and storing in an airtight container will help it keep.
Easy Fruit Salad Recipe
This is truly such a fast and easy upgrade to a standard bowl of cut ripe fruit at your next barbecue. Kids and adults alike will be coming back for more. Pair this with some Greek yogurt for a delicious protein breakfast!
I hope you get a chance to try this soon, it’s a perfectly refreshing and healthy treat that will leave you craving more!
