Sauteed Brussels Sprouts with Bacon Onions and Walnuts are the perfect last minute side dish! There easy enough to make for a weeknight dinner yet fancy enough for a Thanksgiving feast. You’ll love this combination of flavors and textures!
The Quick and Easy Way to Cook Brussels Sprouts
This is one of my favorite ways to cook brussels sprouts. It’s a quick method, they’re easy to make and the end result super tasty!
Bacon is the Perfect Pairing
I noticed a recurring trend in many of the side dishes I shared this season – bacon is a crowning jewel.
I shared this White Cheddar Cauliflower Gratin finished with bacon, this Slow Cooker Creamed Corn finished with bacon, this Pear Bacon and Brussels Sprout Salad, and now these sauteed brussels sprouts with bacon.
Why bacon in all of them? Because bacon makes everything better.
Ingredients Needed for This Recipe
- Bacon
- Brussels sprouts
- Yellow onion
- Butter
- Salt and Pepper
- Walnuts
- Honey
- Dijon mustard
How to Make Sauteed Brussels Sprouts
- Cook bacon in large skillet over medium-high heat until crisp, about 6 – 8 minutes.
- Transfer bacon to a plate lined with paper towels, while leaving rendered bacon drippings in pan.
- Melt butter along with bacon drippings, then add Brussels sprouts and onions, saute until tender, about 10 minutes, while adding in a few tablespoons of water near the end to prevent them from burning if needed.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Add in walnuts, honey and dijon mustard and toss to evenly coat.
- Cook and toss, 30 seconds. Toss in bacon. Serve warm.
Tips for Sauteed Brussels Sprouts
- Use smaller Brussels sprouts, they have better flavor and cook faster.
- Be sure to toss throughout cooking so Brussels sprouts don’t burn.
- Add water as needed to prevent over-browning.
- Finish with honey and dijon for a flavor that perfectly compliments them, or try balsamic vinegar and honey for another delicious option.
