Yogurt Popsicles

Completely refreshing Yogurt Popsicles – these can be made with just FOUR simple ingredients including nutritious fresh fruit, creamy Greek yogurt, rich heavy cream, and tempting sweet honey. They are a breeze to prepare and they even make a tasty breakfast treat!
Easy Homemade Popsicles
A healthier dessert people of all ages will love! And they are perfect for serving any time of day.
These can be prepared in minutes, it just takes a little patience waiting for them to freeze but it’s easily worth the wait.
After just one taste you’ll instantly notice they are so much better than any popsicle you can buy at the store. They taste so fresh and fruity, they are only sweetened with honey (no sugar), and if you want to brighten the color you can use natural food coloring.
Sure they have a hint of cream but it makes a big difference in their taste and texture. It’s such an enhancing highlight to the fruit – just think of that strawberries and cream or peaches and cream combo. Heaven!
They’re amazingly tempting and perfectly delicious, plus a smarter dessert choice than say a big ice cream sundae (but those are great too when you want a splurge, right?).
Make one flavor or try them all! Those I made here include strawberry, peach, pineapple, banana, and blueberry.
Popsicle Recipe Ingredients Needed
- 12 oz. chopped fresh fruit (see below)
- 1 1/4 cups whole Greek yogurt (I recommend Fage 5%)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 6 Tbsp honey, or to taste
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- Natural food color (optional for more vibrant color)
Best Fruit For Homemade Popsicles
The best fruits to use in this recipe include:
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
- Raspberries
- Peaches
- Mango
- Pineapple
- Bananas
- Cherries
Tools Needed
- You will need a popsicle mold for this recipe and some popsicle sticks.
- I have a couple of these which are inexpensive.
- I’ll admit they aren’t the easiest to remove from the molds (they need to be run under warm water) but other than that they work great.
How to Make Popsicles
- Combine all ingredients in food processor: Add fruit, yogurt, cream, honey and vanilla extract to a food processor. Tint with food coloring if using.
- Pulse until fruit is pureed and mixture is well blended.
- Pour popsicle mixture into popsicle mold: Using a funnel pour mixture into popsicles mold, leaving about 1/2-inch at the top for expansion. Place the popsicle lid over and insert popsicle sticks.
- Freeze solid: Transfer to freezer and freeze until solid, about 6 hours.
- Remove popsicles and enjoy: Remove popsicles from mold by running the outside under warm or hot water briefly (or according to the manufacturers directions).
Storage
- Store popsicles in the freezer in an airtight container.
- A large resealable bag or container with a lid works well.
- Storing parchment paper between stacked popsicles is helpful.
- They should keep well in the freezer for about 2 months.
Helpful Tips for the Best Popsicles
- Stick with full fat yogurt for a creamier, less icy result.
- Use fruit that is sweet and in season for the best taste.
- Remove chewy peels from fruit (such as peaches and mangoes) for better texture, and of course don’t forget to remove pits from cherries. You may even opt to remove seeds from raspberries (to do this puree them first and strain out seeds in a sieve, from there add pureed mixture to popsicle ingredients in processor).
- You can adjust the sweetness to taste (the honey). Some fruit may be much sweeter, others or more tart so taste and adjust accordingly.
- Don’t forget to tap out air bubbles after processing mixture and after you’ve poured mixture into popsicle mold. This will remove air bubbles so they aren’t all over in the finished product for a cleaner appearance.

Notes
- *Fresh strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, peaches, mangoes, pineapple, cherries (seeded), or bananas (about 3) work best here.
- **The amount of honey needed can be adjusted to taste. Some fruit is much sweeter while others are more tart. I just found on average 6 Tbsp was just about perfect every time.
